2nd Line Engineer

2nd Line engineers play a crucial role in core services, conducting fault rectification of incidents and supporting problem management, CSI, and CR work. They conduct repairs on all systems managed by Leidos, which are highly utilized with many active users and operate at varying security levels.

2nd line engineers are responsible for advanced troubleshooting, liaising with customers to ensure issues are resolved within SLA and KPI targets. They provide second-line technical support.

  • Manage and maintain servers and virtual machines to ensure high availability and performance, including creating and deploying new equipment.
  • Update network certifications.
  • Provide expert support to end-users, resolving complex issues and offering training on new systems or processes to C4 Eng and the wider community.
  • Implement security best practices and respond to security incidents to protect infrastructure.
  • Work closely with 3rd line and applications teams to troubleshoot complex issues and support core services.

Your Role and Key Duties

  • SD+ Ticket resolutions: Use technical expertise to ensure incidents are dealt with promptly according to KPIs and SLAs.
  • Maintenance: Complete and record periodic maintenance of systems using Preventative Maintenance Procedures.
  • Patching: Use WSUS and SCCM to patch all responsible domains with Microsoft and security updates to address vulnerabilities.
  • Documentation: Maintain and create documentation of system configurations and record work accurately in SD+.
  • Resource Movement: Assist in configuring, installing, and deploying infrastructure components, including virtual machines and UADs.
  • Participation in Projects: Engage in infrastructure projects and change requests, contributing to build, testing, and implementation phases.
  • Key Competencies: Strong communication skills, adaptability, technical troubleshooting expertise, attention to detail, customer service excellence, and teamwork.
