Job summary

A technology consultancy based in Solihull seeks a 2nd Line 24/7 WAN Network Support Engineer. You will support and configure SRX series routers, manage the network WAN estate, and handle technical support. Candidates must have experience with Juniper devices, along with essential skills in BGP, IPSEC, and MPLS. This role involves shift work with a competitive rate of £300/day.

2nd Line 24/7 WAN Network Support Engineer

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 6 months (extensions expected)

IR35: Inside

Rate: £300/day (negotiable)

Location: Solihull

Clearance Required: SC or Eligible for SC (Sole UK Nationals only)

Working Pattern: Shift work with 12-hour shifts, 4 days on, 4 days off, including 4 nights and 4 off. On call 1 week in 3.

Role Overview:

• Support and configure SRX series routers as part of BAU operations to ensure secure network services.
• Manage and maintain the Customer Network WAN estate.
• Handle technical support, escalations, and project work.
• Provide guidance to 1st line engineers and collaborate with 3rd line engineers for knowledge sharing.

Mandatory Skills:

• Experience configuring and troubleshooting Juniper network devices.
• In-depth knowledge of:
• Juniper SRX platform
• BGP
• IPSEC
• MPLS
• PKI

Highly Desirable Skills:

• Hands-on experience with SRX and MX platforms, CLI expertise.
• Routing and switching protocols.
• Advanced BGP knowledge, including policy-based routing, attribute manipulation, load-balancing, troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting IPsec VPNs and MPLS networks.
• Understanding of PKI infrastructure and certificate-based VPN authentication.
