A healthcare provider in Barnsley is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Hepatology. The role involves assessing care needs, managing Hepatology clinics, and mentoring junior staff. Candidates should have a nursing degree and significant Hepatology experience. This position offers the opportunity to develop advanced nursing skills and work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team.
An exiting opportunity has arisen withinHepatology at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, for an enthusuiatic,forward thinking and motivated nurse to join a busy service. The post holderwill have the opportunity to gain expert experience and enhanced knowledge andskills with Hepatology speciaility as well as develp key advanced CNS skills inan environment supported by an experienced lead nurse and medical team. Thepost holder will work in collaboration with other members of the MDT to assistans coordinate a smooth pathway of care throughout the Hepatology service,acting as a resource to patients and carers. The Post holder will be able towork on their own initiative, working as a team player and autonomously manganinga case load of poatients. This role requires excellent communications skills,with the ability to coordinate care across differing disciplines andorganisations.
The postholder will have the responsibility for theassessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation ofprogrammes of care, and, the setting of clinical and professional standards ofcare through:-
Assistin running regular viral hepatitis clinics including outreach clinics based in substancemisuse centre with support from the wider team, ensuring effective managementand follow-up for patients. Plan and monitor patient care, including adherenceand symptom control for viral hepatitis treatments, specifically HCV, HBV andHDV. Support remote monitoring of patients on various treatments, enhancingpatient engagement and self-management preventing complications and improvingquality of life. Participate in hepatology clinics, ensuringhigh standards of nursing care through the planning, coordinating, delivering,and evaluating of nurse-led clinics. Act as a visible role model in hepatologynursing, promoting best practices and mentoring junior staff.
