Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking experienced Occupational Therapists to join frailty teams at University Hospital Hairmyres and University Hospital Monklands. You will deliver specialist input for older people living with frailty, focusing on early assessment, rehabilitation, and safe discharge planning while applying home first principles.

You’ll work in a 7-day service with weekends and public holidays, with flexible full/part-time options.

Qualifications

  • Registered with NMC/HCPC/GPHC.
  • Masters level education or equivalent.
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced clinical practice.

Responsibilities

  • Autonomously assesses, diagnoses and treats older people with frailty.
  • Apply advanced clinical skills to plan, implement and evaluate care.
  • Ensure care adheres to professional codes and guidelines.
  • Manage time across clinical, educational and administrative tasks.

The Role

AHP Frailty Practitioners (Band 7) - We are seeking experienced Occupational Therapists to join our frailty teams at both University Hospital Hairmyres and University Hospital Monklands.

You will deliver specialist input for older people living with frailty, focussing on early assessment, rehabilitation, and safe discharge planning whilst applying home first principles. Successful candidates will work within a collaborative team, benefit from ongoing professional development, and contribute to service improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes. You will be part of a 7-day service, with a working pattern that includes weekends and public holidays. Please note full & part time hours will be considered.

In this key role, you will:
  • Autonomously assesses, diagnose and treats individuals with a range of acute, non acute and chronic presenting medical conditions across lifespan.
  • Utilise advanced knowledge and highly specialist clinical skills in a range of settings to assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care in order to deliver the highest possible standard of care to patients and their families within the confines of available resources and refers to appropriate agencies.
  • Practice at all times within the Professional Codes of Conduct
  • Conduct evidence based practice in accordance with clinical guidelines and standards.
  • Manage own time to meet the various demands of the role, including clinical, educational and administrative elements.
  • Develop and actively participate in research by working collaboratively with multidisciplinary and academic partners and other HEIs
What You'll Bring:
  • Registered Nurse / AHP / Pharmacist with valid NMC/HCPC / GPHC Registration.
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Masters Level.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced clinical practice and expertise within speciality /
  • area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality.
  • Advanced Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality.
