Job summary

A leading environmental consulting firm is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to provide expertise supporting various internal and external stakeholders. This role involves ensuring quality at all project stages, delivering technical assessments, and promoting continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in an Engineering or Quality role, along with a relevant degree and necessary certifications. A hybrid work model is available.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in Engineering or Quality Engineering role.
  • IOSH Managing Safely is essential; training can be provided if required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance to ensure deliverables and targets are met.
  • Support delivery of technical assessments using appropriate methodologies.
  • Control of inspection/calibration/reporting to ensure Quality delivery is maintained.

Skills

Competent user of MS Office

NSG Environmental Ltd has been delivering work programmes in the nuclear industry for over 40 years. Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others. This work is delivered at NSG's own offices and purpose-built facilities and nuclear sites across the UK. The delivery and management of these projects and programmes of work is carried out by a skilled workforce composed of both white-collar and blue-collar personnel in technical, administrative, and physical roles.

The Role

To provide local Quality expertise to support numerous internal or external stakeholders within their specific area. Work as part of a cross functional team to deliver improvement through collaboration on projects and programmes.

Key Objectives
Accountabilities
  • To ensure that Quality is represented at all stages of programme, project, trial or production
  • Provide technical guidance and customer support to ensure that deliverables and targets are met
  • Maintenance and enhancement of own skills, knowledge, and capabilities necessary to support both current and future work programmes
  • Identify areas of continuous improvement to promote and enhance Quality capability
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player
Responsibilities
  • Support delivery of technical assessments using appropriate methodologies and contributing to capability development
  • Attend design/technical/task reviews, defect reviews and stakeholder meetings as required to ensure Quality is represented
  • Control of inspection/calibration/reporting and processes, to ensure Quality delivery is maintained
  • Engagement with all relevant stakeholders
Person Specification

Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline
  • Lead Auditor Quality, Safety and Environment - Desirable
  • Membership of appropriate technical / professional body - Desirable
  • IOSH Managing Safely is essential - Relevant training will be provided if required
Experience & Knowledge
  • A minimum of 2 years\' experience working in an Engineering or Quality Engineering role
  • Well organised with the ability to work to timescales and demonstrate attention to detail
  • Routine recording and reporting of information both verbal and numerical
  • Familiar with AQAP 2110 - Desirable
  • Experience of employment in a customer facing role - Desirable
  • Familiar with structuring and presentation of own work - Desirable
  • Used to dealing with confidential and commercial information - Desirable
  • Familiar with QSHEW operating procedures and requirements etc - Desirable
Skills & Abilities
  • Competent user of MS Office
  • Able to organise and prioritise own work
  • Ability to prepare and present reports, documentation and information in support of project delivery
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate technical data
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of colleagues at all levels and with external stakeholders and contractors
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 / 14001 & 45001
