This post is a 8 month fixed term/secondment opportunity
The hours for this post are 29 per week
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Patient Flow Assistant to join our Emergency Department team. The post holder will work alongside the Emergency Department Nursing and Administration Team and help with the flow of patients in the department.
The post holder will be required to have good communication skills and experience of working in a fast-moving, busy, high-pressure environment.
You will need the ability to work on your own initiative and have good decision-making skills.
The successful candidate is expected to support the effective and timely flow of patients through the Emergency Department (ED), ensuring that the nurse and doctor in charge are aware at all times of what stage patients are at in the ED processes in relation to assessments, observations, diagnostic tests, treatment, and plans for admission or discharge.
The post holder will work as part of the nursing team to support the clinical team in delivering the 4-hour target. They will support the management of the electronic patient flow system, liaising with bed managers, pathology, radiology, wards, and Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to ensure appropriate and timely movement of patients.
