Job summary

Essex Police and Kent Police recruiting for a Regional Control Desk Operator based in Folkestone. This full-time, permanent role includes a starting salary of £31,959 with pro‑rata for part-time vacancies and a 24/7 shift pattern. The post supports CT Border Policing Officers and uses policing IT packages with training provided.

You will liaise with national and partner agencies to safeguard public safety and manage border-related demand, with security vetting mandatory.

Qualifications

• Efficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.
• Good communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Experience with policing IT packages such as Athena/PNC/Storm/PND is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support regional counter-terrorism border policing efforts at Kent ports.
• Manage demand and coordinate information during major incidents.
• Collaborate with partner agencies and other police forces across the UK.
• Undertake investigative functions on persons of interest under guidance.
• Relocate to the Incident Command Centre within the Channel Tunnel terminal when required.
