A healthcare organization in Scotland is looking for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join the Learning Disabilities Service. The role involves assessment and intervention for adults with complex needs, emphasizing skill development and teamwork. Band 5 Occupational Therapist
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Occupational Therapy service within the Adult Learning Disabilities Service. We welcome applications from enthusiastic, motivated and hard-working individuals to join our team who are committed to developing themselves, staff and the service within Learning Disabilities.
This post is based with our Community Learning Disabilities Teams (CLDT’s). The successful candidates will work with the band 6 Occupational Therapist s based within the CLDT to provide assessment and intervention for adults with a Learning Disability, whose complex needs mean they cannot access mainstream services. The caseloads can include, patients with communication difficulties, dementia, mental health needs, Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities, autism, and behaviours which can be seen as challenging.
Assessment and intervention is diverse and varied, allowing OT’s to develop a wide range of specialist skills. Including standardised OT assessment (Model of Human Occupation, and the Canadian Model) and assessments informed by complimentary theoretical frameworks e.g. Sensory Integration, Positive Behaviour Support. Intervention promotes occupational performance and can include skills and engagement, equipment and adaptation, training and support for patients, care staff teams and families.
Professional supervision, training and development are integral to the service. You must have a Degree in Occupational Therapy and be registered with HCPC as an Occupational Therapist. We welcome applicants who have skills that can be transferred into Learning Disabilities and you will be supported to develop to the required level in this speciality.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
