Edinburgh Fertility Centre and Department of Reproductive Endocrinology Assisted Conception Programme

Fixed Term (12 months)

Please note: As this post is part-time, the salary will be pro-rata.

An opportunity has arisen for a HCPC registered scientist to join the ISO 15189 accredited diagnostic Reproductive Medicine Laboratory on a temporary basis within the Edinburgh Fertility Centre, based within the Royal Infirmary at Little France, Edinburgh.

The RML provides over 2000 semen assessments and approximately 150 semen storages for fertility preservation and transgender patients per year. The laboratory is ISO15189 accredited and provides a high quality semen assessment service for General Practitioners and medical colleagues within NHS Lothian and beyond.

A fixed-term post (12 months) for a 0.8WTE band 7 (AfC) Clinical Andrologist has become available to cover maternity leave. You should have experience in all aspects of diagnostic laboratory techniques and be able to work to a high standard independently of others. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the diagnostic service including clinical authorisation of Semen Assessment results. You will lead a small team of three biomedical scientists and a laboratory secretary. You should have familiarity with regulatory requirements of UKAS and of the HFEA and compliance with their standards.

The post is 0.8WTE (4 days - 29.6 hours/week), fixed-term and may include weekend and on-call obligations.

Please note that this is not a training post, and only HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists and Clinical Scientists will be considered for the role.
