Job summary

A healthcare organization in Edinburgh is seeking a part-time technician for the Technology (Mechanical) Section of Oncology Physics. The successful candidate will maintain linear accelerators, conduct QA and repairs, and develop new equipment. Applicants should possess a degree or equivalent knowledge, with experience in mechanical engineering and knowledge of radiotherapy physics being advantageous. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in mechanical engineering including Machine Shop experience is essential.
  • Some knowledge of radiotherapy physics would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to routine duties in the section, including linear accelerator maintenance.
  • Perform QA and repair tasks.
  • Assist in the development of new equipment.

Please note: As this post is part-time, the salary will be pro-rata.

A part-time vacancy (18.5 hours) exists in the Technology (Mechanical) Section of Oncology Physics. The post holder will be part of a small team (2.5 whole time equivalent) and contribute to the routine duties in the section, including linear accelerator maintenance, QA and repair, and development of new equipment. Two 3-d printers have recently been bought by the department. Good communication and organisational skills are essential for the work involved. The interviews will take place on 11/09/25..

Minimum qualifications are a degree or an equivalent level of knowledge. Experience in mechanical engineering including Machine Shop experience is essential, and some knowledge of radiotherapy physics would be beneficial.
