Job description

Senior Research Nurse
Oncology Clinical Trials
AFC Band 6 £41,608 - £50,702

(1.0 WTE)

Base: SE Scottish Cancer Research Network, Department of Oncology, Western General Hospital, Edinburgh

Applications are invited for a full-time research nurse to support the Oncology Research Team within the Scottish Cancer Research Network.

You will be responsible for the recruitment, care, and treatment of patients involved in clinical trials. The post holder will need to work with a high degree of independence, interpreting protocols and caring for this patient group. You will work closely with other research nurses, clinicians, data managers, and the multidisciplinary team throughout the SCAN region. This involves attendance and input at multidisciplinary meetings and clinics. Occasional travel outside the study meetings or to other hospitals in the region may be required.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated nurse with experience in a related specialty who would like to work within the Scottish Cancer Research Network. Ideally, you should have experience in clinical research and be educated to degree level (or working towards it). The post holder should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, knowledge of the research process including ICH/GCP guidelines, and evidence of continuous personal, professional, and academic development. Attention to detail is essential, and IT skills would be advantageous. You must demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to an ever-changing working environment.

This is an exposure-prone post.

To work in the UK, you must demonstrate relevant permission to work, granted by the UK Visa and Immigration Service. Further information can be found in the vacancy details.

This post requires PVG Scheme membership/record. If not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (child and/or adult), an application must be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before starting.

Informal visits are encouraged. For more information about the role and required skills, please see the job description and person specification. Contact Harriet Stavert at 0131 537 1859 or harriet.stavert@nhs.scot.

The use of “Senior” refers to experience and responsibility level, not age. Applications from all ages are welcome, provided criteria are met.
