NHS National Services Scotland is seeking a Consultant Paediatrician for a permanent position at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People. The role includes responsibilities in the Acute Receiving Unit with opportunities for special interests, ensuring comprehensive care in paediatrics, with various shifts planned annually.

Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, full time/part time (40 and 32 hours per week) post based in Royal Hospital for Children and Young People.
This post is a replacement post due to retirement and will augment consultant cover for the Acute Receiving Unit (ARU) at RHCYP. Out of hours commitments will be at RHCYP as part of the non-resident general paediatrics on call consultant rota and will include resident consultant evening shifts in RHCYP. These will be job planned on an annualised basis with one quarter of shifts to be delivered every three months.
Special interests within paediatrics will be accommodated whenever possible provided the job plan allows this.
