An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Chronic Haemodialysis Renal Service as a Registered Nurse. This specialist area of nursing offers a close and supportive team environment, providing services across Dumfries and Galloway.
As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will provide high-quality haemodialysis care to patients. You will work across multiple sites within the region, so a valid driving licence is required. The shift patterns vary, with 9.5-hour shifts at MHTC and 11.5-hour shifts at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, Kirkcudbright and Galloway Community Hospital. The service runs outpatient appointments from Monday to Saturday, and out-of-hours shifts are covered by the on-call renal nurse team.
In addition to haemodialysis, we also provide plasma exchange in both acute and chronic settings. You will have the opportunity to gain exposure and learning regarding peritoneal dialysis, enhancing your skills and knowledge in renal care.
To qualify for this role, you must be a Registered Nurse. While experience in haemodialysis is beneficial, it is not essential, as full training will be provided. The training includes an 8-10 week in-house program at MHTC, supported by the Renal Educator and mentors. We are committed to ongoing learning and development, and once your skills are appropriate, you will be included in the on-call rota, which involves additional in-house training.
Our training and development approach is comprehensive and person-centred, accommodating different learning speeds. We believe in supporting our staff through every step of their professional journey.
This post will primarily be based at Mountainhall Treatment Centre (MHTC) but there will be shifts across four sites in Dumfries and Galloway therefore a driving licence, or ability to travel independently to other sites outwith public transport routes/times, will be required.
