Job Description: Advanced Health Protection Nurse (Band 7) - Fixed-term, 12 months, Secondment

This role involves providing expert clinical case management, utilizing advanced nursing practice skills to assess, treat, discharge, or refer patients of all ages appropriately, ensuring high standards of care in partnership with the multidisciplinary team.

The post requires PVG Scheme membership or a satisfactory application to Disclosure Scotland before commencing employment. The successful candidate will work within the East Region Health Protection Service, based at the Astley Ainslie Hospital in South Edinburgh, delivering health protection services across NHS Fife, Forth Valley, Borders, and Lothian regions.

Key responsibilities include assessing, advising, and implementing communicable disease control and community infection prevention strategies, providing specialist advice and training to healthcare professionals and the community, and developing service aspects to enhance practice. The role demands high decision-making and clinical judgment, with opportunities to lead specific service components and work collaboratively across healthcare and local authority boundaries.
