Job description

Band 7 Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner Haemophilia Service

22.2 hrs / week (0.6 WTE)

Please note: As this post is part-time, the salary will be pro-rata.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our Haemophilia multidisciplinary team and MSK Physiotherapy Outpatient Department. The role involves providing integrated assessment, diagnosis, analysis, and management of patients with Haemophilia.

The successful applicant will play a key role in leading and developing the Haemophilia Physiotherapy Service across NHS Lothian. This includes improving practice, working collaboratively, and implementing evidence-based standards, guidelines, and policies. You will provide specialist advice to healthcare professionals, agencies, carers, patients, and their families. The role encompasses expert clinical practice, education, and auditing, with opportunities to develop an interest in point of care ultrasound with appropriate training.

This position will actively lead audit and research activities to support the development of the Haemophilia Physiotherapy Service and contribute to clinical guidance for Scottish Haemophilia Physiotherapy Services.

Outreach work, including education and training of non-specialist physiotherapists in managing bleeding disorders, will be a key aspect. The post may involve supervising Physiotherapy students.

The post holder will work flexibly across the Haemophilia MDT at OPD 1 RIE (including a Wednesday morning multidisciplinary clinic and Friday afternoon MDT meeting) and the MSK Physiotherapy Out-Patient Department in OPD 5 RIE. The caseload will primarily involve adults with Haemophilia and other bleeding disorders, mostly in outpatient settings, with some inpatient work. The post is based at RIE but may require work at other sites.

Candidates should demonstrate broad clinical experience and advanced knowledge in Rehabilitation, MSK, Long Term Conditions, or related subspecialties. Experience in service development and supporting a proactive multidisciplinary team involved in Quality Improvement projects is essential.

As an advanced practice physiotherapist, you will collaborate with other team leads across various organizational and professional topics, gaining extensive experience as a clinical Band 7 physiotherapist at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Physiotherapy Services support staff development through appraisal, supervision, and CPD opportunities.
