Job Description: Radiographer

NHS Scotland is committed to promoting equality and diversity within our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. We aim for a workforce that is truly representative and where every employee feels respected and able to give their best. We welcome applications from all sections of society.

We support disabled candidates, candidates with long-term conditions, or those who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policies and practices.

Starting from 1 April 2025, legislative changes may require a different level of criminal records check. If the role is classified as a 'regulated role', appointment will be subject to the PVG Scheme. Any updates to requirements will be confirmed by the Hiring Manager or Recruitment Team. For more information, visit: Disclosure Scotland Changes.

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and well-motivated radiographer to join our busy imaging team. The successful candidate will rotate through CT and MRI departments and will be involved in the practical and theoretical teaching of students and radiographers on rotation from the general department.

The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh is a major trauma centre, requiring 24/7 on-site coverage for CT, which the successful candidate will be part of. Evening and weekend work in CT and MRI is also expected within a 37-hour workweek.

Department Equipment

The department is equipped with Canon Aquilion Prism, Prime SP, and Lightning CT scanners, as well as Philips Intera Ambition X and Siemens Magnetom Aera MRI scanners.

Professional Development and Work Flexibility

Imaging team radiographers are encouraged to pursue further education and ongoing professional development. A flexible approach to work is essential, and the postholder must be committed to providing high-quality service to patients, customers, and colleagues.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous NHS experience is essential.
  • Established experience in CT is essential.
  • Experience in MRI is advantageous.
