The role of a Community Mental Health Nurse involves using specialist clinical knowledge to inform decision-making from assessment to discharge. The nurse provides expert advice to the multidisciplinary team regarding patient management, assessment, treatment, and review in collaboration with patients and carers.

Responsibilities include providing advice to healthcare professionals, agencies, carers, clients, and families; supporting service development; implementing evidence-based standards, guidelines, and policies; and offering teaching and supervision to junior staff and students.
