Job description

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist within Psychology Services in NHS Lanarkshire on a 12-month fixed-term basis. We have scope for a 1.0 WTE Band 8A post.

0.7 WTE of the post is within our motivated and innovative psychology service delivering clinical services within HMP Shotts. The successful applicant will support the service lead in delivering and governing a high-quality psychology service within HMP Shotts. They will work alongside psychology colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team providing assessment, care, and treatment to individuals in prison. Responsibilities include assessment, formulation, psychological therapies, indirect interventions, promoting psychologically informed approaches, teaching, supervision, consultation, and involvement in quality improvement and research.

0.3 WTE of the post will provide input to the acute psychiatric inpatient wards at University Hospital Wishaw, offering direct and indirect psychological work for various presentations, with opportunities for staff training, consultancy, and service development.

The post holder will be line managed by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist within the respective services, with regular supervision and access to CPD. Please note the attached job descriptions are generic.

What we'll need you to bring
  • Post Graduate Doctoral level (or equivalent) degree in Clinical or Counselling Psychology, registered with HCPC.
  • Additional relevant training, accredited supervision experience, knowledge of policies, and legislation.
  • Full UK/EU/EEA driving license.
It would be great if you also have
  • Training in personality assessment/therapy, experience with forensic populations, supervision experience, neuropsychological knowledge, and therapeutic skills.
Contract type

Fixed term or secondment for 12 months, full-time (37 hours), Mon-Fri, 9:00-17:00.

Location and Working Pattern

Based in HMP Shotts and University Hospital Wishaw, with the same working hours.
