To undertake pharmaceutical technical tasks within a designated area, on a rotational basis, using Standard Operating Procedures laid down by the relevant Senior Pharmacy Technician to maintain a high quality pharmaceutical service to NHS Lanarkshire hospitals.

National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
SVQ Level III
Registered pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Dispensary checking or aseptic checking qualification
Commitment to CPD
Minimum of 2 year post qualification experience as qualified pharmacy technician in hospital pharmacy service
Experience in dispensing Discharge/OPD/in-patient prescriptions
Experience in providing a ward/department stock top-up service.
Experience in supervision of other staff or of a functional area of pharmacy.
Thorough understanding of hospital pharmacy services
Ability to carry out aseptic and cytotoxic drug reconstitution
Computer skills/key board skills
Good communication skills both verbal and written
Ability to organise and prioritise work
Team player
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
Applicants who do not meet the essential criteria of having the Dispensary checking or aseptic checking qualification will be considered under the Annex 21 training programme where whilst undergoing training they will be paid 75% of the top of Band 5 (Salary Scale) and on completion of training will then move on to Band 5 scale.
