CITB’s job is to attract talent and support skills development across the construction industry. As the industry transforms to meet new challenges, so must we. That’s where you come in.

Our main objective is to create a culture that helps all of our customers strive towards a workforce that is reflective of today’s society.
About the role:
We’re looking for an experienced and strategic Business Architect to join our growing Central Portfolio Office (CPO).
As our Business Architect, you will work alongside our Head of Business Design Authority, helping to ensure every change initiative and business solution is strategically aligned and delivers real, measurable impact.
You’ll provide expert business architecture support to programmes and projects across CITB – initially with a major transformation programme that is reshaping how we operate and deliver value across the organisation.
You will collaborate with senior leaders, delivery teams, product owners and digital professionals to create innovative, future-ready designs for how CITB operates – across people, processes, technology and data.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain business architecture artefacts including capability models, operating models, value streams and impact assessments.
Collaborate with stakeholders to align programmes with enterprise-level design.
Document, maintain and communicate the current and target operating models (people, processes, technology, data).
Lead and contribute to the design of business solutions across programmes and projects.
Apply business design principles and architectural thinking to transformation initiatives.
Support and embed the Business Design Authority, including ownership of architecture standards and design governance.
Facilitate workshops, training, and contribute to developing a business design culture across CITB.
Create and manage an integrated business architecture knowledge base, including current state (as-is), future state (to-be), and transitional views.
Essential:
Significant experience in Business Architecture or Business Design, particularly on strategic, organisation-wide programmes
A relevant qualification in business or IT architecture (e.g. TOGAF)
Deep understanding of business architecture principles, business process analysis, digital transformation, and change delivery
Experience in modelling business processes and operating models using tools such as BizzDesign, ArchiMate or similar
Excellent communication skills – able to explain complex ideas clearly and influence at all levels
Experience working within a structured project delivery environment
Ability to interpret complex stakeholder needs and translate them into high-quality designs
Collaborative team player with the ability to work across teams, departments and organisational boundaries
Flexible and adaptable – able to navigate ambiguity and manage priorities in a fast-changing environment
Desirable:
Knowledge of public sector environments or Arm’s-Length Bodies (ALBs)
Experience supporting the development of business design standards or Centres of Excellence
Familiarity with change management and/or benefits realisation
Benefits:
33 days holiday per year (Including bank holidays)
Flexible benefits including childcare vouchers, cycle to work and insurance
Pension scheme
Employee discounts
Long service awards
CITB recognition scheme
Employee assistance programme
