Job summary

Hoare Lea in Bournemouth is seeking a 2027 Graduate Electrical Engineer to join one of the UK’s leading building engineering consultancies. You’ll contribute to live projects from day one across healthcare, hotels and residential sectors, producing detailed electrical designs with Revit and related software.

You’ll benefit from a structured development programme, mentoring, and Career Paths framework, with CPD support and opportunities toward Chartership.

Qualifications

• 2.1 or above in an IET or CIBSE accredited degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
• Friendly, ambitious and confident with a flexible and resilient approach.

Responsibilities

• Work on live projects from day one across healthcare, hotels, retail and residential.
• Produce detailed electrical designs and drawings.
• Utilise modelling software such as Revit, Dialux, Relux and Electrical OM.
• Undertake site surveys and research ground‑breaking technologies.
• Engage with project teams and clients to coordinate delivery.

The Role

Being part of one of the UK’s largest building engineering consultancies, we benefit from collaborating with some of the best engineers in the business, with access to state‑of‑the‑art technical support, and have the opportunity to work on some of the largest and most high‑profile projects as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.

Bispebjerg Hospital in Denmark, Canolfan Pentre Awel in Carmarthen, One Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester, Multi‑Megawatt Data Centre Campus , the vast £1 billion Elephant and Castle redevelopment in London, are examples of some of the amazing projects where we have led the design with other Hoare Lea disciplines.

• Working on live projects from day one – our exciting projects
• In a variety of sectors from healthcare to hotels, retail to residential
• Producing detailed designs and drawings for work including but not limited to;
  • Electrical circuits, wiring, and lighting
• Using the latest computer modelling software Revit, Dialux, Relux, and Electrical OM.
• Undertaking site surveys
• Researching ground‑breaking technologies
• Continuous CPD and learning opportunities

Communicating will span all of these, as we regularly liaise with project teams, meet clients or end users, and attend collaborative meetings.

About You

To be successful in this role, you’ll need…

• An expected or achieved 2.1 or above in an IET or CIBSE accredited degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or similar
• Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently
• A friendly, ambitious and confident individual with a flexible and resilient approach

It would be an advantage, but not necessary, if you also had…

• A Masters or other relevant post graduate qualification
• Previous placement or work experience in a similar industry
• An understanding of CAD or similar modelling software
