Job summary

Hoare Lea is recruiting a Graduate Electrical Engineer in Birmingham. You will join one of the UK’s largest building engineering consultancies, gaining exposure to a wide range of projects across healthcare, hotels, retail and residential sectors.

You will produce detailed electrical designs using Revit and other modelling tools, visit sites, and learn from mentors to progress toward Chartership. Expectation is to develop technical skills while benefiting from CPD opportunities, a 9‑day

Qualifications

• IET or CIBSE accredited Electrical Engineering degree with 2:1 or higher
• Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills
• Ability to work in a team and independently
• Friendly, ambitious and confident with a flexible and resilient approach
• Masters or postgraduate qualification
• Placement/work experience in similar industry
• Understanding of CAD or similar modelling software

Responsibilities

• Work on live projects from day one across healthcare, hotels, retail and residential sectors
• Produce detailed electrical designs and drawings
• Use software like Revit, Dialux, Relux, and Electrical OM
• Undertake site surveys and research new technologies
• Engage in continuous CPD and development activities
• Communicate with project teams, clients and end users

The Role

Being part of one of the UK’s largest building engineering consultancies, we benefit from collaborating with some of the best engineers in the business, with access to state-of-the-art technical support, and have the opportunity to work on some of the largest and most high-profile projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Bispebjerg Hospital in Denmark, Canolfan Pentre Awel in Carmarthen, One Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester, Multi-Megawatt Data Centre Campus, the vast 1 billion Elephant and Castle redevelopment in London, are examples of some of the amazing projects where we have led the design with other Hoare Lea disciplines.

As a Graduate Electrical Engineer, your day-to-day tasks will vary, as we’ll expose you to all aspects of our work so you can discover what suits you. You could be;

• Working on live projects from day one – our exciting projects
• In a variety of sectors from healthcare to hotels, retail to residential
• Producing detailed designs and drawings for work including but not limited to;
  • Electrical circuits, wiring, and lighting
• Using the latest computer modelling software Revit, Dialux, Relux, and Electrical OM.
• Undertaking site surveys
• Researching ground-breaking technologies
• Continuous CPD and learning opportunities

Communicating will span all of these, as we regularly liaise with project teams, meet clients or end users, and attend collaborative meetings.

About You

To be successful in this role, you’ll need…

• An expected or achieved 2.1 or above in an IET or CIBSE accredited degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or similar
• Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently
• A friendly, ambitious and confident individual with a flexible and resilient approach

• A Masters or other relevant post graduate qualification
• Previous placement or work experience in a similar industry
• An understanding of CAD or similar modelling software
