Job summary

Carter Jonas in Oxford is offering a 12-month Building Surveying placement in our Building Consultancy team within the Commercial division. You will assist professional surveyors on servicing a wide range of clients and will gain exposure to client contact, with your own areas of responsibility.

Travel to client sites is expected; a UK driving licence is essential. We will support APC certification with a structured training programme, access to workshops and mentoring from qualified surveyors,

2027 Building Surveying Placement Student

We are hiring Building Surveying placement students to join our Building Consultancy team in Oxford within the firm’s Commercial division on a 12-month fixed term placement beginning Summer/Autumn 2027.

This is a varied and interesting role assisting professional building surveyors on servicing a wide range of private, commercial and institutional clients

Sandwich students will be working with partners and experienced surveyors on a day-to-day basis including client contact and will have their own areas of responsibility and opportunities to take forward work.

What will it take to be successful?

We are looking for forward thinking students with a can-do attitude, who have the ability to manage multiple projects and deal with a variety of work. You will ideally be studying for a RICS accredited Building Surveying degree. Previous experience gained through placements, internships or work experience within the property sector will help you stand out.

Candidates will demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, a collaborative approach to working with others, and pro

ficiency across the Microsoft Office suite. Given the nature of the role and the need to travel to client sites and properties, a full UK driving licence is essential.

Application process

You will be asked to respond to a number of questions about your work experience as well as your motivations and interest in a career in property as well as any extracurricular activities. We ask you to provide reference contact details, one educational and one employment. If successful, you will be invited to attend an interview in November/December.
