We have an opportunity for driven and ambitious students looking to gain practical experience in the Special Services team, one of our diverse and innovative teams based in Croydon.

Our industrial placement opportunities are for 10 to 12 months and are carried out during a year out from university, after completing a bachelor's, and before enrolling onto a postgraduate course. Our company operates in a wide range of sectors, providing a unique chance for you to engage in projects that align with your academic interests and career goals.

You’ll be working with graduates, experienced professionals, and other students, so placement with us is a perfect opportunity to learn from a variety of people while understanding our values and culture. It’s also a great chance to get involved with real projects while gaining relevant experience.

We do not have a formal structure for our placement programmes, so you can really make the role your own. The more you get involved and ask questions, the more you will gain from your experience with us.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION

We are currently recruiting committed and motivated students with a genuine passion for problem solving, complex analysis, and a desire to make a difference in the world. The SSD team focuses on specialist skills such as dynamics, vibration, and non-linear problems, so a keen interest in these areas and willingness to learn are required.

To be eligible, you must be studying for a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Structural Engineering
  • Civil and Structural Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • General Engineering (with a specialism in one of the above)

In your application, demonstrate your interest in the role and working at Mott MacDonald through relevant experience, such as studying relevant modules or previous work experience.

We are looking for applicants with the following characteristics:

  • Methodical approach to problem solving
  • Ability to use initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently, with a willingness to learn
  • Excellent verbal communication skills for liaising confidently with clients and team members
  • Excellent written communication, attention to detail, and the ability to produce accurate technical drawings and reports
