Job description

and the job listing Expires on May 15, 2025

Camp Boggy Creek is a not-for-profit medical camp that serves children with serious illnesses. We are located in central Florida, approximately 45 minutes north of Orlando. Our summer staff directly impact and empower children.

A camp where children with serious illnesses and their families can forget the word “no” for a little while and embrace the promise of “yes.”

No matter your major, our summer jobs teach the top skills graduate schools want in applicants and companies want in employees: leadership, communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, customer service, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

If you enjoy kids, trying new things, and choosing kindness, this could be the place for you! Don’t worry if you don’t have experience with children who have illnesses; we have medical staff and volunteers on site to take care of campers’ medical needs. We will train staff in the medical information you will need to PLAY WITH KIDS here.

  • The job provides free on-site housing and meals.
  • Staff can also receive CPR and first aid training, lifeguard training, and archery training.
  • Regular professional development sessions teach staff additional skills as the summer progresses. Camp helps staff grow!

Summer job applicants must be at least 18 years old, and positions are contingent on reference checks, receipt of passing the criminal background screening, fingerprinting, and medical/immunization requirements. We hope to have summer staff hired by mid-April, so interested applicants are encouraged to apply early.

All voices are needed at Camp Boggy Creek, and every new member of our team is an opportunity for our camp to grow. We want to hire a camp staff that is reflective of the campers we serve, so we strongly encourage diverse candidates to apply. Camp Boggy Creek is intentional about growing in our diversity, equity, and inclusion, as we want all children and adults to feel safe, respected, and loved here.

Here is a link to our employment page, where you will be able to access the online application when it opens on November 15.

Please Note: To apply for summer 2025 positions at Camp Boggy Creek, applicants will need to navigate to our official website at https://www.boggycreek.org/summer-camp-jobs. As SPORTS and REC STAFF, your primary responsibility is ensuring the safety and well-being of our campers and staff in an outdoor and indoor environment. Responsibilities include creating and implementing thematic sports and recreational activities, differentiating activities to meet the needs of each camper, encouraging campers to be active and healthy, and performing safety checks throughout the season. Sports and Rec staff receive site-based trainings and sequential in-service trainings. The role requires building working relationships with staff to ensure high standards of programming and safety at all times.

Due to the skills associated with organized sports and outdoor recreational activities, individuals with recreational or athletics experience are preferred for this role.

Last summer’s staff said they learned these skills that will benefit them in the future:

  • how to lead a group
  • flexibility
  • trust in myself
  • communicating my needs
  • confidence
  • how to have difficult conversations
  • time management
