Professional Apprenticeship - Technical Data Analyst

Role Overview

A Technical Data Analyst is responsible for maintaining accurate and complete datasets within the Technical systems which support how we go to work. They are an expert in the operation of those systems and will work to develop them and support others in their implementation. They will analyse the data collated and produce reports and visual representations which provide insights that inform business decision-making and interventions.

They work in the central Systems & Process team within the wider central Technical Quality & Building Safety leadership team, under the guidance of the Senior Engineer (Data & Systems) based in Dartford.

The Technical Data Analyst is a new role in the Technical Function, which is there to ensure technical excellence, assurance, and performance across all projects and opportunities from pre-project, early engagement, and work winning through to detailed delivery. All of our Technical staff are part of our Engineering Enterprise and are aligned with our overall strategy to maximise DfMA, Digital Engineering, and Early Engagement.

You will receive the appropriate on and off-the-job training to allow you to become an experienced Laing O'Rourke Technical Data Analyst.

Key Deliverables and Accountabilities of a Technical Data Analyst

  • Work closely with the Senior Engineer (Data & Systems) to maintain accurate and complete datasets in our Technical systems.
  • Be an expert user of our technical systems and help develop these and support others in the business in their deployment and application.
  • Help ensure company technical procedures are followed.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to convey data and insights gained from technical data to others in the team and wider business.
  • Highly computer literate (MS Office including MS Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint, PDF Editors).

Location

Dartford - BP2 (for co-location with existing team)

Travel within the UK and some overnight stays will be required to facilitate project support requirements.

Apprenticeship Provider

Laing O'Rourke collaborates with trusted and approved training providers (Universities) for our apprenticeship delivery. Successful candidates will be required to make an application to our preferred provider for the apprenticeship route you have chosen.

Our programme will provide a fully funded day or block release Level 4 (HNC) apprenticeship in your chosen vocation, while working as a full-time Laing O'Rourke employee. During the programme, you will work across a range of projects, which will offer the breadth and variety to support your occupational competency and will contribute towards the achievement of your apprenticeship and professional accreditation.

Entry requirements

We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • You must be eligible to work in the UK with a valid work permit.
  • Entry grades will be listed within each job description and they will differ from role to role.
  • To qualify for this programme, you will need to have a minimum of 5 GCSEs - preferably grade 4+ in Maths, English, and Science.
