Join the WSP Apprenticeship programme and help design our tomorrow.

Your new role, what's involved?

As an Advanced Apprentice at WSP you will be a full-time, permanent employee, getting paid while working on exciting, real-world projects from day one. With support from your experienced team and dedicated buddy, you’ll gain hands-on experience in an inspiring environment. You will be equipped with the most sophisticated design tools, exploring fresh, new ways to design and build for our future, using the latest software, gaining technical experience while you learn on the job.

You’ll start your apprenticeship in September 2025, attending a local college for either one day per week or block placement, gaining a full BTEC Level 3 qualification. Typically, the Advanced Apprenticeship takes between 2-3 years to complete (including End Point Assessment in England).

Our dedicated Early Careers team will work closely with you over the course of your apprenticeship to support and plan a development pathway that suits you.

With WSP you will feel a sense of belonging in an environment where everyone feels respected and valued. We want you to be your true authentic self at work and be inspired, learn, discover, and feel empowered in your career.

We have opportunities in:

  • Civil Engineering: Within our Roads and Communities team(s) you will learn how to design, build, and maintain our roads, bridges, sports stadiums, high rises, airports and beyond.
  • Locations: Lincoln, Northallerton, Belfast, Exeter
  • Building Services: With our Buildings Services team you will learn to offer advice in services such as Mechanical (heating, ventilation, air conditioning), Electrical (lighting and renewable technologies) and Hydraulics (water systems and sea systems) to a variety of buildings and rail stations.
  • Locations: Birmingham, Bristol

Essential Criteria:

  • You will have achieved or are predicted 5 GCSE's grade C/Level 5 or above in English, Maths and Science.

Please note: candidates must complete the application form in full, answering all specified questions. This requirement applies to all candidates, inclusive of their background. Successful completion of this stage is mandatory.

What is the process?

Submit Application: We do not require you to submit a CV to apply, instead you will need to complete a short online application form. You’ll receive a confirmation email within 48 hours of submitting your application.

Online Behavioural Assessment: If you meet our eligibility requirements and we have a role that matches your chosen preferences, you will be sent an online behavioural assessment to complete.

Assessment Centre or Interview: Next, a shortlist of candidates will be created by our hiring managers and those people will be invited to an assessment centre or face-to-face interview, within 8 weeks of initial application.

Please note, the process can take up to 12 weeks in total if you’re an early applicant.
