Charlton Recruitment is seeking 2 Senior Health & Safety Managers for the HS2 Stations programme in Birmingham. These senior roles involve leading safety initiatives on two major construction projects, fostering a culture of safety across diverse teams. Ideal candidates will bring extensive health and safety expertise, strong leadership skills, and experience in large infrastructure projects.
2 Senior Health & Safety Managers are required for the HS2 Stations programme, working on the new Birmingham HS2 Stations (Curzon & Interchange Stations).
These roles are based within High Speed Two Ltd, responsible for the UK’s largest infrastructure project. One role is for the construction of the £570m Curzon Street Station in Birmingham city centre, and the other for the £370m Birmingham Interchange Station near Birmingham Airport. Both are major, complex projects with 4-5 year programmes.
The Senior Health & Safety Managers will lead H&S efforts on each station, fostering a positive safety culture across project teams and supply chains.
Curzon Street Station: A flagship station with a 70m-wide arched roof, representing a landmark in Birmingham and the first new intercity terminus since the 19th century.
Birmingham Interchange Station: A landmark, BREEAM excellent standard station, with four 415m platforms and an integrated transport hub linking NEC, Birmingham International Station, and Birmingham Airport. The project is currently on site.

Working Conditions: Roles are site-based within joint venture offices, requiring collaborative, proactive leadership and stakeholder management skills.
Working Model: Hybrid working with 3 days/week onsite, offered by a modern, flexible employer.
Salary: £70,000 - £75,000 + Pen (6:12) + health + 25 days leave.
Responsibilities include: Embedding safety culture, supporting risk-based assurance, ensuring compliance, investigating incidents, and promoting EDI initiatives.
Minimum Requirements: Qualified senior health & safety professional, ideally chartered or working towards it, with experience in large infrastructure projects, and strong leadership, analysis, and problem-solving skills. Candidates from client, consultant, or contractor backgrounds are welcome, with the right collaborative and proactive behaviors.
