We are looking for a committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Dawlish. This part-time role offers an excellent opportunity to support a student with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP), helping them to thrive in a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting a student’s academic and personal development. Your key duties will include:

  • Personalised Learning Support: Providing tailored assistance to help the student engage with the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  • Collaboration with Teachers: Working closely with the class teacher to implement effective learning strategies and adapt support as needed.
  • Encouraging Independence: Assisting the student in developing confidence and self-reliance in their learning.
  • Monitoring Progress: Tracking the student’s development and providing feedback to teachers to inform further support.
  • Behavioural Support: Helping the student manage their behaviour positively, using appropriate strategies to support their emotional well-being.
  • Building Strong Relationships: Creating a trusting and supportive bond with the student to enhance their learning experience.
What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive individual who is dedicated to supporting students. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant Experience: Previous experience working with children is essential, ideally within a school setting.
  • Understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN): Knowledge of how to support students with additional needs and adapt learning approaches accordingly.
  • Strong Communication Skills: The ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, students, and parents.
  • Patience and Empathy: A caring and patient approach to working with children who need additional support.
  • Classroom Management Skills: Confidence in promoting positive behaviour and fostering an engaging learning environment.
  • Commitment to Education: A passion for helping students achieve their full potential.
  • Qualifications: A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable, but relevant experience will also be considered.
