We’re seeking a compassionate and proactive 1:1 Mentor to support students who need extra help to succeed in their education. Whether you have experience in teaching support, youth work or coaching, if you’re passionate about helping young people overcome challenges and thrive, we’d love to hear from you!

This is a rewarding and varied role where you’ll provide one-to-one support to students, helping them engage with education and develop essential life skills. No two days are the same and your support will be life-changing for the young people you work with!

About the school:

This specialist provision caters to students aged 11 - 16 who have been excluded from school or are at risk of exclusion. With a strong focus on core subjects and alternative learning experiences, the school offers vocational training, outdoor education and personalised development to help students to thrive.

Your role as a 1:1 Mentor:

  • Support students academically and emotionally, helping them overcome barriers to learning
  • Assist with personalised timetables, including off-site activities such as farm visits, sports centres and museums
  • Forster a safe and supportive learning environment, prioritising student wellbeing
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies in line with EHCPs
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff and parents/carers

Who we’re looking for:

We welcome applications from candidates with a background in education, youth work, coaching or support roles. It is essential that you have at least 3 months child-based experience in the UK, even on a voluntary basis. If you’re passionate about working with young people, we want to hear from you!

  • Proactive, resilient and enthusiastic
  • Able to motivate and engage students in learning
  • A strong team, player with a great sense of humour
  • Adaptable and flexible - every day is different!
  • Must have a full UK driving licence and access to a car for off-site activities
