THE BUSINESS

Westray Recruitment Group is looking to recruit a 1st Line Support Engineer to work within a busy IT team based in the Gateshead area.

The successful candidate will resolve support tickets that are raised by their colleagues and work closely with our IT team to ensure business objectives are met. You will work to support the continuity of service for all IT equipment and services across the business.

This will involve working closely with third party customers and suppliers in addition to our managed service provider who maintains our network.

Day to day, this will consist of troubleshooting software and hardware, a crucial part of this role would be ensuring that objectives are achieved whilst adhering to our security protocols.

THE ROLE

  • Monitoring the helpdesk and resolving IT issues efficiently
  • Following and maintaining documentation
  • Triaging tickets and following escalation procedures
  • Upgrading or repairing hardware when required
  • Configuring and rolling out machines for new and existing users
  • Installing, configuring and supporting a variety of printers and drivers
  • Supporting the use of iPhones and Android devices
  • Supporting users to use Windows 10/11 and Office 365 effectively and resolving any issues
  • Procuring hardware and software as required
  • Supporting CCTV systems
  • Occasional travel to sites when required

THE PERSON

  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate at least 1-year IT experience in a helpdesk related role
  • Experience of working within manufacturing environments
  • Experience of IT networking
  • Experience with Microsoft365 and Microsoft Office packages
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • An ability to manage workload and prioritise urgent items accordingly
  • A working understanding of network and data security
  • Ability to advise, guide, and communicate technical issues to non-technical staff
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Full driving license
