Job Title: 1st Grade Science and Social Studies Teacher
Reports To: Lower School Division Head

Position Type: Full-Time / Exempt

Job Summary:
The 1st Grade Science and Social Studies Teacher at our private school is responsible for delivering developmentally appropriate, engaging lessons that inspire curiosity, character, and critical thinking. Through hands-on learning and integrated instruction, the teacher will help students explore the natural world and understand their place within their community and beyond. This role is key in supporting the school’s mission to nurture the whole child—academically, socially, and morally—within a values-based environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and teach daily science and social studies lessons aligned with school standards and values.
  • Introduce students to foundational science topics and social studies themes.
  • Use interactive, project-based learning to promote inquiry, observation, and critical thinking.
  • Foster a classroom environment rooted in respect, kindness, and curiosity.
  • Assess and track student progress through developmentally appropriate methods.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student growth and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate content across subjects and support school-wide initiatives.
  • Uphold and model the school’s mission, character values, and commitment to academic excellence.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school community events.

Qualifications:
