Are you passionate about supporting young people who may have found school a barrier to learning? Do you have the drive to help learners re-engage with education, build confidence and develop the skills they need for a successful future?

Leeds City College are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our vibrant 14–16 Skills Programme team. You’ll play a key role in helping our learners—many of whom have SEND or additional needs—to thrive both academically and personally.

This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents/carers, and external agencies to create a nurturing and structured environment where every learner is empowered to succeed.

This role is reduced year 39 weeks, the actual pro rata salary is £22,862 with progression to £23,438.

What You Will Do

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to learners, both in and out of the classroom.
• Motivate and inspire learners by building positive relationships and modelling respect and high aspirations.
• Work with staff to develop and implement effective learning strategies tailored to individual needs.
• Support the delivery of vocational days, work experience placements, and travel training.
• Contribute to the development and review of learner targets, EHCP outcomes, and progression plans.
• Monitor learner progress and behaviour, and update tracking systems to identify and address barriers.
• Facilitate communication with parents/carers and support external agency involvement.
• Help to maintain high levels of attendance through supportive intervention and engagement strategies.
• Assist in creating engaging learning environments, including educational visits and display boards.
• Undertake administrative duties including register completion, learner reports, and exam invigilation.
• Participate in professional development and contribute to the wider ethos of the 14–16 Skills Programme.
