Job summary

A leading research institution in Edinburgh is seeking a full-time Research Assistant to join the Wellcome Trust-funded Mirchandani Lab. This 3-year position focuses on studying the impact of hypoxia on monocyte biology in critical illness. Candidates should have a degree in Biology or Immunology and competence in mouse work. Flexible working patterns can be considered.

Qualifications

  • Degree (B.Sc., Honours, M.Sc. or equivalent) in Biology, Immunology or similar discipline.
  • Hold a UK Home Office Animal Licence (PIL) (modules A+B).
  • Be competent in mouse work, including common techniques (e.g., substance administration) and inflammatory disease models.
  • Experience with mouse tissue harvest.

Grade UE06: £34,132 - £39,355 per annum

CMVM / Institute for Regeneration and Repair / Centre for Inflammation Research

Full-time: 35 hours per week

Fixed Term: 3 years

We are looking for a Research Assistant to join the newly-formed, Wellcome Trust-funded Mirchandani Lab within the Centre for Inflammation Research and Institute for Regeneration & Repair to study the impact of hypoxia on monocyte biology and ontogeny in the context of critical illness.

This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.

The Opportunity:

This is a 3-year post, full-time Research Assistant position to work in the group of Dr. Ananda Mirchandani. The Research Assistant role will offer a unique mix of utilising and developing interdisciplinary scientific techniques, performing cutting-edge scientific research with support and guidance from the PI, and establishing managerial and leadership capabilities. This post is funded by a Wellcome Trust Career Development Award (£3.1 million, 2024-2033).

Your skills and attributes for success:
