The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join the Strategic Change Service within the Corporate Services Group. The successful candidate will be joining us at a critical time in our development and at the start of a new portfolio of strategic change. We are seeking someone who is experienced in engaging with senior stakeholders across an organisation and is able to identify the right people in a complex environment to progress required action. We need you to have the experience to ensure projects deliver quality but also to help us shape and continually improve how our team works.

As a Senior Data Analyst, you will support project deliverables focused on utilising multiple master and auxiliary data sets. You will be essential in understanding complex and sensitive data challenges, defining solutions, and delivering them. Managing stakeholder expectations regarding data analysis activities is crucial. The role requires excellent experience in complex data analysis, sourcing and modelling data, addressing data quality issues, and supporting decision-making and reporting needs. You will own and progress your project deliverables independently, with a focus on understanding the business outcomes.

The data analysis capability is new to the Strategic Change Service, so this role will be key in developing our ways of working and framework. Collaboration with data professionals across the university, including the Data Architecture team, is essential. You will matrix-manage and guide other data analysts working on different projects within our portfolio. Experience in complex organisations is advantageous.

We are an expert team advising and supporting strategic initiatives in partnership with colleges and services, committed to delivering positive outcomes for our community.

The role reports to the Head of Business Analysis and contributes to high-quality analysis services for the Strategic Change Service and university stakeholders. More information on our current portfolio is available on our Strategic Initiatives webpage.

This full-time (35 hours per week) role is hybrid, requiring 2–3 days per week in various campus offices.

Your skills and attributes for success:
  • Significant practical experience in successful data analysis coordination within a robust programmatic approach
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik
  • Advanced knowledge of tools like SQL, Python, or R for analyzing large datasets and relational databases
  • Proven ability to analyze complex issues and model data to inform decisions
  • Understanding of data protection principles affecting access and reporting
  • Experience working with non-specialist colleagues to specify and scope data projects
  • Ability to collate information, prepare reports, present to leaders, and facilitate workshops
  • Capability to work independently with high standards and accuracy
