Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil in a welcoming primary school in Gateshead. The role is initially 3 days per week, with the opportunity to become full-time from October half term.

Start date is September 2026. Pay is £95–£110 per day (depending on experience). The position offers weekly PAYE, access to free and discounted CPD training, and potential for long-term or permanent roles within a supportive school environment.

Teaching Personnel is seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil in a welcoming primary school in Gateshead.

The role will initially 3 days per week, as the pupil is currently following a part-time timetable. The school is committed to supporting the child's successful transition back into full-time education, with the expectation that the role will increase to full-time from October half term.

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a primary-aged pupil.
• Build a positive, trusting relationship to encourage engagement and confidence.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support.
• Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil's individual needs.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

• Has experience working with children, ideally within a primary school or SEN setting.

• Can remain calm and adaptable in a range of situations.
• Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience (desirable but not essential).
