Overview

Are you enthusiastic about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? Do you have resilience and a sense of humour to make a real difference? We are recruiting for a Learning Support Worker to join a specialist alternative education provider in Peterlee.

The Role

Hours: 9:00–2:40, Mon–Fri

  • Supporting students who experience barriers to learning due to SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
  • Building positive relationships to engage and motivate young people
  • Implementing behaviour strategies to support emotional regulation and learning
  • Working closely with teaching staff and external professionals to provide tailored support
What We Are Looking For
  • Experience working with young people in an education, care, or support setting
  • Understanding of mental health needs and neurological conditions
  • A resilient nature, positive attitude, and a good sense of humour
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to challenging situations
  • While formal experience in a similar role is beneficial, we welcome applicants with transferable skills from youth work, sports coaching, residential care, or similar backgrounds.
