12-Month Work Placement - Architecture (RIBA Part 1), Birmingham

Our Intern & Placement programme is designed to give you a hands-on insight into the work we do as a company and help develop skills and knowledge within your chosen field. Supported by signposted training, the programme is based on Arcadis core values, providing both technical training and support to help you develop personally and professionally. You will be exposed to real projects and clients, gaining a range of experiences over your 10-12-week internship or 12-month placement.

Arcadis is a global multi-disciplinary design firm with a growing UK team, including a RIBA chartered Architectural practice. We are seeking a Part 1 Architectural Assistant to join our team, currently based in London, Birmingham, Manchester, and Leeds.

We work on diverse projects including commercial, residential, and industrial sectors in the UK and abroad. Arcadis offers a platform for growth, digital innovation, and support for career development within the industry. Innovation, automation, and NCZ are integral to our evolving strategy.

During your year in practice, you will assist with project activities such as feasibility studies, concept and detailed designs, and detailed planning applications across a varied sector portfolio.

Applicants should demonstrate enthusiasm to learn, with excellent design and graphic communication skills. An interest in placemaking and architecture is important. Knowledge of design software such as Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite is highly advantageous.

We will provide an employment mentor and a Professional Studies Advisor to help record your practical experience using the RIBA's PEDR website.

Application requirements:

• Architectural degree equivalent to RIBA Part 1
• Strong design and presentation skills
• Excellent spoken and written English
• Ability to work independently and in teams
• Familiarity with UK building regulations and planning system (desirable)
• Experience with Revit/BIM (desirable)
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and InDesign
• 3D visualization skills using software like Enscape, Vray, or SketchUp
• Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel)
