Job description

MCS Group are delighted to be working with a large public sector organisation based in Antrim, in adding a procurement officer to their team. This role is covering a maternity cover lasting 12 months.

The Key Details:

Antrim based, with travel across County Antrim.
12 month temporary contract, with potential of extension.
37 hours a week.
£20.98 per hour.
Flexi-hours opportunity.


The Role:

  • Manage end-to-end tendering and quotation processes, including evaluation, negotiation, award recommendations, and debriefing unsuccessful bidders.
  • Provide procurement advice to officers, service managers, and directors in line with policy and best practices.
  • Support the preparation and review of specifications and tender documents to ensure clarity and compliance.
  • Maintain a central register of contracts for goods, works, and services, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Oversee procurement information across relevant systems, including policies, tender opportunities, and contracts.
  • Engage with external procurement bodies to identify opportunities for collaborative purchasing.
  • Assist in providing procurement-related reports and assurance to senior leadership and governance bodies.
  • Build partnerships with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Monitor organisational spend to identify new procurement initiatives and improve value for money.
  • Support contract management practices, including performance monitoring, risk assessment, and compliance with contract terms.

The Person:

  • At least 4 years' relevant procurement experience.
  • Be willing to work towards achieving membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply within 3 years of commencing this role.
  • 1 years Public Sector procurement experience.
  • Working knowledge of best practice procurement procedures and achieving best value for money.
