Job description

Wakefield Virtual School is seeking to recruit to the position of 11 – 16 Cohort Lead for Children in Care in Wakefield Secondary Schools. Your role will be to lead, track and innovate excellent educational practice through working with and advising schools to improve outcomes for this group as part of the wider work of The Virtual School.

Training and VirtualSchool development will be a part of your role. You will manage a Support Officer to ensure progress and the improvement of educational outcomes for this cohort.

You will be an experienced teacher with an extensive understanding of Secondary Schools. Knowledge of SEN process and the ability to adapt to working in a Local Authority will be advantageous.

The Virtual School is a statutory function of the Local Authority with a purpose to improve the academic outcomes of our Children in Care (CiC). The Virtual School supports other professionals working with children in their care, by sharing good practice in education and being ambitious for their outcomes, in line with Statutory guidance. The Virtual School seeks to champion the needs of CiC in promoting academic outcomes, excellent attendance in education and ensure that all children have the opportunity to achieve.

We are a small, supportive team based in Normanton Town Hall.

The post is full time only and for 37 hours per week.
