Job description

Job Title: Female Support Worker

Location: Ayr

Hours: Variable – 22 hours per week (based on a one-year temporary contract, to be reviewed after a year)

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Female Support Worker to provide dedicated support to a young woman with learning disabilities and neurodiversity. This role is ideal for someone who is empathetic, patient, and has experience working with young people in a similar capacity.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Providing support as agreed with the employer, including evenings and weekends as required.
  2. Assisting with the transition into her own home and supporting her in maintaining independence.
  3. Helping with budgeting, shopping, cooking, cleaning, and general household tasks.
  4. Supporting attendance at medical appointments and social outings.
  5. Encouraging engagement in activities that align with her interests, including arts, crafts, exercise, dance, and healthy living.
  6. Researching and identifying suitable activities and community groups.
Desirable Skills & Interests:
  1. Qualifications: SVQ Level 2 or 3 in Care.
  2. Registration: SSSC registration desirable.
  3. Transport: Must be a driver.
  4. Skills & Experience:
  • Experience working with young people with learning disabilities and neurodiversity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and empathy.
  • Ability to support independent living and personal development.
  • Knowledge of healthy cooking and baking.
  • Interest in arts, crafts, exercise, and dance.
  • Ability to encourage and facilitate social inclusion.
