About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide personalised support to a student with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or Individualised Education Program (IEP) at our secondary school in Preston. This is a highly rewarding position where you will play a vital role in ensuring a student can access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

This role requires a patient and empathetic individual with a solid understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to implement the student\'s specific support strategies and foster a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one support to a student, helping them to stay on-task and understand lesson content.
  • Implement the strategies outlined in the student\'s EHCP or IEP.
  • Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the student\'s individual needs.
  • Encourage the student\'s independence and social inclusion within the school community.
  • Monitor and record the student\'s progress and report back to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Assist with communication and liaison between the student, teachers, and parents.
  • Support the student during exams, breaks, and extra-curricular activities as required.
