Nascot Wood Junior School in Watford is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a child with SEND in the morning and a small group in the afternoon. The role emphasizes developing independence, confidence and learning within a supportive team.
We value patience, adaptability and a collaborative approach, with safeguarding and pupil wellbeing at the core of our practice. This is a Full-time position within a welcoming school community.
Nascot Wood Junior School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring and committed Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and wants to play a meaningful role in helping them develop their confidence, independence and learning.
The successful candidate will have a varied and rewarding role, providing dedicated support to an individual pupil during the morning and working with a small group of children within our bespoke afternoon provision.
During the morning, you will work closely with a child with additional needs, providing individualised support to help them access learning, develop essential skills and achieve their personal targets.
An important feature of this role is the involvement of a specialist advisory teacher, who provides three hours of support each week. This includes direct teaching of the child alongside continuing professional development (CPD), guidance and practical strategies for staff.
This offers an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their knowledge, confidence and expertise in supporting children with complex additional needs.
During the afternoon, you will become part of the team delivering our bespoke provision for a small group of approximately three to five children with additional needs.
Rather than providing individual 1:1 support, you will work flexibly alongside colleagues to support the children across a range of carefully planned activities and learning experiences.
Our afternoon provision is designed to meet children's individual needs while promoting communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, independence and personal development.
This varied role provides opportunities to develop experience in both individual and small-group SEND support.
Previous experience of supporting children with SEND would be an advantage, but we also welcome applications from individuals who have the right personal qualities, a willingness to learn and a genuine commitment to making a difference.
If you are an enthusiastic and compassionate individual who enjoys a challenge, values teamwork and believes that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, we would love to hear from you.
Nascot Wood Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our recruitment and selection procedures reflect this commitment.
