Job summary

St. Peter's CE Primary Academy in Salisbury is seeking a calm, patient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil who may need help regulating emotions and behaviour.

You will work closely with the class teacher to differentiate learning and foster engagement in the classroom. The role is 30 hours per week, 38 weeks per year, funded under a Named Pupil Contract to provide dedicated support for a specific pupil.

Qualifications

  • Calm, patient and highly consistent 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil who may need additional help to regulate emotions and behaviour.
  • Experience of supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, emotional regulation or distressed behaviour would be highly beneficial.
  • Ability to remain calm, maintain clear boundaries and respond sensitively during difficult moments is essential.

Located to the west of Salisbury, the heart of a vibrant new community, St. Peter’s CE Primary Academy is set in extensive grounds overlooking the Wiltshire countryside. The building has state of the art facilities including a multi-use hall, extensive sports facilities inside and out, a multi-functional studio, food-technology room and a purpose-built nursery setting.

We are seeking a calm, patient and highly consistent 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child who can find aspects of the school day challenging and may need additional help to regulate their emotions and behaviour. The successful candidate will build a secure and trusting relationship with the child, recognise potential triggers and use positive, proactive strategies to help them remain engaged in learning. Experience of supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs, emotional regulation or distressed behaviour would be highly beneficial. The ability to remain calm, maintain clear boundaries and respond sensitively during difficult moments is essential.

The hours are 8.30am to 3pm (with a 30 minute lunchbreak) Monday to Friday. 30 hours per week, 38 weeks per year. The successful candidate will be employed under a Named Pupil Contract, with the role funded to provide dedicated support for a specific pupil and therefore linked to that pupil's attendance and support needs within the school.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
