Your role would include
  • Providing teaching and support to pupils with autism, following individualised curriculums
  • Planning, preparing and delivering lessons and activities, focusing largely on life skills
  • Supporting pupils\' participation in trips, applying theory-based learning to practice
  • Providing behaviourally based support to reduce behaviours that impact quality of life
  • Providing personal care, encouraging pupils to maintain acceptable levels of hygiene (toileting, feeding)
  • Monitoring pupil progress, ensuring teaching is appropriate and effective for pupil needs
  • Assisting with breaktime duties including playground support and snack time
Skills and capabilities
  • Minimum Grade C/4 or equivalent, in English Language & Maths
  • Professional, personal or voluntary experience of working with children and disabilities
  • Comfortable working with children who exhibit challenging behaviour
  • Comfortable supporting others with personal/intimate care where required
  • Ability to keep calm in high pressure situations
  • Own means of transport, due to location desirable
