Job summary

AP Education is seeking dedicated SEND Tutors, SEND Teachers, and HLTA s in Bury St Edmunds to deliver 1:1 support for learners with a range of needs. You will work closely with families and schools to tailor interventions and monitor progress.

You will support learners from Early Years to KS4, delivering Maths, English, Science or SEND-specific guidance, using a therapeutic, patient approach and regular progress updates.

Qualifications

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH requirements.
• Background in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings.
• QTS or HLTA preferred; two years' UK experience welcome without qualifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, dependable, initiative-taking mindset.

Responsibilities

• You'll provide face-to-face 1:1 support, with learners from Early Years to KS4.
• Deliver core subjects (Maths, English, Science) or SEND-specific support.
• Employ positive behaviour strategies and a therapeutic approach.
• Perform baseline assessments to inform targeted support.
• Prepare progress reports and liaise with external professionals as needed.
• Manage attendance reporting and assist transitions to mainstream or specialist settings.
