Job summary

AP Education is seeking SEND Tutors to deliver 1:1 support across North Yorkshire. You will work with learners with a range of complex needs, including SEND, SEMH, Autism, and SpLD, delivering core subjects or SEND-specific content in a flexible, therapeutic approach.

This role expects compassionate educators who can assess progress and liaise with external professionals when required. Applicants with QTS or HLTA certification are preferred, but those with a minimum of two years' relevant UK

Qualifications

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH.
• Experience in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings is advantageous.
• Two years of relevant UK experience is welcomed if QTS/HLTA is not held.

Responsibilities

• Deliver core subjects or SEND-specific content.
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies.
• Provide therapeutic, adaptable education to meet individual needs.
• Perform baseline academic and emotional assessments to guide support.
• Prepare detailed progress reports and liaise with external professionals as needed.
• Manage attendance reporting via attendance software.
• Assist learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist settings.
