Job summary

AP Education is partnering with local authorities to deliver customised 1:1 Alternative Provision for children and young people who cannot access mainstream education. We seek dedicated SEND Tutors, SEND Teachers, and HLTA roles in Hull, offering flexible hourly work and term-time schedules.

You will support learners with SEND/SEMH, autism, and related needs, delivering targeted maths, English, and science content with patient, trauma-aware approaches. Training and ongoing CPD are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH.
• QTS or HLTA preferred; however, applicants with a minimum of two years UK experience without qualifications are welcome.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, dependable, and initiative-taking mindset.

Responsibilities

• Provide face-to-face 1:1 support with students from Early Years to KS4.
• Deliver core subjects (Maths, English, Science) or SEND-specific content.
• Implement behaviour management using positive strategies and patience.
• Provide a therapeutic and adaptable approach to education, ensuring individual needs are met.
• Perform baseline academic and emotional assessments to inform targeted support.
• Prepare detailed daily/weekly progress reports and liaise with external professionals as needed.
• Manage daily attendance reporting via attendance software.
• Assist learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist settings.
