SEND Teaching Assistant required in Hereford

Are you passionate about supporting children in education?

Have you provided 1:1 or small group SEND TA work before?

Do you have experience supporting children who have SEMH and Trauma?

TeacherActive work closely with a well-respected, mainstream Secondary School in Hereford, who are looking for a Teaching Assistant with experience in supporting children with SEMH, to join them as soon as possible. The school are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant who can support on a 1-1 basis for the rest of the academic year. There is potential for this role to extend into September 2025.

The role will be full time.

The role will include:

• Offering a student additional support on a 1-1 basis
• Supporting with diverse learning needs
• Experience support secondary aged students who have SEMH and/or Trauma
• Providing guidance and encouragement
• Providing individualised and flexible support
• Understanding and implementing behavioural management strategies
• Helping create and maintain and positive working environment
• Liaising with the class teacher and SENDCo, SLT, parent s or carers when appropriate
• Monitoring student's progress

Roles requirements:

• At least 12 months experience supporting children who have additional needs
• Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with students and staff
• Flexibility
• A calm nature and someone who can think quickly on their feet
• Patience and understanding
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent behavioural management skills
• Availability to work 8:30-3:30 term time
