Job summary

AP Education seeks SEND/SEMH tutors for 1:1 support in Norwich and surrounding areas. You will work with learners from Early Years to KS4, delivering the subject curriculum and employing compassionate, therapeutic teaching approaches.

Role offers term-time, up to 30 hours per week, with guaranteed weekly pay and access to tailored curriculum platforms to support flexible learning. DBS enhanced disclosure required, with on-going CPD opportunities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH requirements.
• Background in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings.
• QTS or HLTA certification preferred; however, applicants with a minimum of two years' UK experience without qualifications are welcome.
• Experience delivering the SUBJECT curriculum to a high standard.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, dependable, and initiative-taking mindset.

Responsibilities

• Face-to-face 1:1 support with students from Early Years to KS4.
• Deliver the SUBJECT Curriculum or SEND-specific.
• Implement effective behaviour management using positive strategies.
• Provide a therapeutic and adaptable approach to education, ensuring each learner's needs are met.
• Perform baseline academic and emotional assessments to inform targeted support.
• Prepare detailed daily/weekly progress reports and liaise with external professionals as needed.
• Manage daily attendance reporting via attendance software.
• Assist learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist education settings.
